Coeliac disease with atypical clinical picture in a girl aged 3 years

The author describes a girl, in whom coelic disease was diagnosed not earlier as at the age of three years, despite several hospitalizations in various hospitals, even teaching hospitals since the age of one year. The cause of diagnostic difficulties was atypical variable clinical image suggesting also such diseases as Hirschsprung's disease, intestinal lymphatic angiomatosis, nephrotic syndrome. Moreover, before admission to the National Research Institute of Mother and Child, gluten-free diet was given without preceding diagnostic investigations for demonstration of possible absorption and digestion disturbances. This caused also a delay in establishing of correct diagnosis.
