Pulmonary blood flow in acute pneumonia

Rheopulmonography was used to assess pulmonary blood flow in patients with croupous or focal pneumonia with the same extension of the pulmonary process in the acute period of the disease and 3 and 6 months following clinical recovery. Significant derangement of pulmonary blood flow was found in the inflammation zone in patients with croupous pneumonia, the disorder persisting even 6 months after clinical recovery (as distinct from confluent focal pneumonia) which may serve as a criterion of the duration of the patients' medical checkup.
