Microsurgical techniques utilizing epineurial, fascicular and combined epineurial-fascicular methods were done following simple laceration of rat sciatic nerve. Clinically, there was no difference in motor functions. Histological evaluation included light and electron microscopic studies of distal-proximal axon ratio, distal myelination, and connective tissue responses. Results indicated that there is no superiority of a particular method of nerve repair. The skill and expertise of the surgeons play an important role in providing a useful result.
