Embolization of the hepatic artery (EHA) was performed in 7 patients with malignant tumors of the liver. Before EHA all the patients had an increased level of bilirubin and transaminase of blood serum. After performing EHA their levels decreased within 5-12 days in 6 patients, the average survival of the patients was 14 months. One patient died 5 days after EHA from hepatic insufficiency resulting from necrosis of the massive tumor. The conditions for safe performing of EHA under conditions of hyperbilirubinemia are discussed.
