In Poland, 927 beetles of the genus Carabus in 17 species were examined between 1980 and 1986 for the presence of mites; 3699 mites belonging to at least 29 species were found and are listed with notes on hosts, prevalence and distribution in Poland and elsewhere. Nine mite species are recorded for the first time from Poland, and a number of species are reported for the first time as being associated with Carabus. C. hortensis and C. coriaceus had the richest mite fauna (13 and 10 species, resp.), while infestation intensities were highest in C. nemoralis and C. intricatus.
