Lipid profile in vasectomized men

In a group of 62 men, 24 to 62 years old, it was determined the serum lipid level before and 2, 6, and 12 months after the surgical occlusion of the deferent. There were not found statistical significative differences in weight, blood pressure, no sterified fatty acids levels, total lipids, triglycerides, total cholesterol, lipoproteins and its alfa, prebeta and beta fractions which were assessed before and after surgery. When it was taken into consideration the serum levels of the alfa, beta fractions in the same patient it was observed that 12 months after the vasectomy similar percentage of cases presented that one of the fractions prevailed. Therefore, there were not found modifications in the lipids profiles of the subjects that could demonstrate a high risk of acquiring arteriosclerosis.
