Of 6 heavy metals tested, Zn was the most toxic, reducing growth of S. [Corticium] rolfsii by 40% at 400 p.p.m. and 80% at 1200 p.p.m. Cu, Fe and Mg were also toxic at all concn tested, but Mn and Ca were not. The toxicity of Zn was increased by Cu, Fe and Mg while Mn and Ca reduced it. In the light of these results, Zn + Cu, Fe and Mg are recommended for applications against C. rolfsii in soil, pot tests and field trials.
