Drugs that induce and/or worsen psoriasis

The authors have examined the rule of taking medicaments by psoriatic patients treated mainly for psoriatic arthritis, as well as their side effects provoking and/or worsening psoriasis. There have exacerbations of erythrosquomotic skin disorders occurred in 26 cases of 422 users of non steroidal antiinflammatory drugs, in 5 cases of 116 patients under steroid therapy, in 3 of 8 ones taking betablockers, in 5 of 64 cases taking antibiotics and 6 of 67 patients under slow reacting drugs. One psoriasis provocation caused by lithium was also observed. They call the attentions to drugs the use of which is unavoidable in psoriatic arthritis and in concomitant diseases, and which can impair or even provoke psoriasis, as well as to the need of careful control of the patients taking these drugs.
