[Changes in the support system for the aged in Korea

Recent changes in familial support of the elderly in the Republic of Korea are described. The author notes that concurrent with urbanization and industrialization has been a trend toward nuclear families and a weakening of the traditional values and norms that define caring for the aged within the extended family. The implications of these changes for social welfare policies are assessed. (SUMMARY IN ENG)
