Morocco has experienced two consecutive drought seasons, with 2000/01 more severe. For the 1999/00 season Morocco produced 2.1 Mt of wheat and 1.4 Mt barley. In Tunisia, recent rainfall has averted a below average crop, although more rain is required to improve crop prospects. For 1999/00 Tunisia produced 1.4 Mt of wheat and 0.4 Mt barley.
