Time perspective was studied in a group of diabetic children between 9 yrs and 12 yrs 6 mos and in a control group. The following tests were administered: Ziade's test of the concept of age, subtests of the WISC-R (Wechsler's Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised), the MIM (Motivational Induction Method), and the TAT (Thematic Apperception Test), and Lomranz's test of coherence. The MIM was found to be the most precise method used. It identified motivation objects situated in different temporal categories (immediate future, intermediate future, distant future, open present) in all of the children. Only the proportions varied. Pedagogical conclusions were drawn from the results which would be applicable to other chronic illnesses such as asthma.
