Nitroglycerin infusion in pulmonary embolism

A case of pulmonary thrombo-embolism with severe heart failure and hypoxemia is presented. Combined infusion of dopamine and nitroglycerine resulted in hemodynamic improvement and marked increase in arterial oxygen tension. The action of nitroglycerine on the pulmonary vasculature is discussed.
