An incident of birth of a child in 16-year-old patient with typical phenotype of Down's syndrome is described. The karyotype of the proband is 47, XX + 21, while that of the child is 46, XX. Analysis of the literature data and the author's observations showed that the total ratio of trisomics and non-trisomics in the offspring of women with Down's syndrome is 9:18, which considerably differs from theoretically expected and suggests that selection against anomalous gametes exists.
