The object of this study was to investigate whether children who had had pseudocroup showed increased predisposition to, and incidence of, atopic conditions as compared with a control group of children without pseudocroup. Children admitted to the paediatric department in Herning with pseudocroup during a period of five years from 1.1.1978 to 31.12.1982 were examined and compared with a control group of children without pseudocroup, selected at random from the census and aged between six months and six years during the same period. No differences were found between the two groups as regards allergy, nor were any differences demonstrated as regards predisposition to allergy in the two groups. A preponderance of boys was found among the children with pseudocroup.
