The authors present the cardiopathy of eight phaeochromocytoma patients. Two out of three operated cases demonstrated reversible myocardiac involvement but one of them irreversible chronic cardiac failure. The other five cases of phaeochromocytoma were discovered at autopsy. The clinical symptoms suggested that the tumours were hormone secreting. The histological investigation of the hearts disclosed in one case severe catecholamine myocarditis and in four, other characteristical catecholamine-induced lesions. Secondary congestive cardiomyopathy was observed in two cases. With regards of the dates of references the pathogenesis, clincal course as well the ECG and histological changes of catecholamine-induced myocardial disease are discussed. They present the myocardial alterations associated with phaeochromocytoma for the first time in Hungary. By means of their investigations they conclude that one must think of phaeochromocytoma as underlining disease in some cardiac complaints.
