National data on primary and secondary syphilis infections, as well as a cross-representation of data on new gonorrhea infections, show increased infection rates among men who have sex with men (MSM), even as overall rates are falling nationally for gonorrhea.. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officials theorize this indicates problematic risk behaviors which could result in higher HIV rates, as well.
