Comparison of the findings yielded by the clinical and endoscopic examination, conjunctival biomicroscopy and morphological study of gastric and duodenal mucosa in patients suffering from periodic disease and amyloidosis has demonstrated the significance of conjunctival biomicroscopy in control over the disease course and diagnosis of amyloidosis in periodic disease. It has been shown that microcirculatory disorders participate in the pathogenesis of disturbances of the gastroduodenal portion of the alimentary tract in periodic disease and amyloidosis.
