Osteoid osteoma is rarely observed in the distal phalanx of the fingers. On account of the accompanying soft-tissue swelling and the deformity of the finger-nail and the atypical radiological findings, the differential diagnostic problems are frequently considerable. The first Danish case is presented together with a review of the clinical picture and the diagnostic possibilities.
