Choledochoduodenal anastomosis in benign lesions of the common bile duct

From 1972 to 1986, 94 choledochoduodenal anastomoses (CDA) were performed in cases of non-neoplastic lesions of the common bile duct and the pancreas. The average age of the patient was 70. There were no immediate postoperative complications connected to the presence of the CDA. In the long term, no complications due to severe cholangitis or anastomotic stenosis were observed. CDA was recommended as a simple and rapidly performed procedure with a very low morbidity.
