The effect of this amendment is to transfer never-married sons and daughters aged 21 and older from the Assisted Relative Category to the Family Class Category and to permit them, along with their own unmarried children, to accompany their immigrating parents to Canada as accompanying dependents. The amendment also reduces from 60 to 55 the minimum number of points required to pass for certain Assisted Relatives, i.e., siblings and married or previously married sons and daughters.
