The study considers the processes that generate and perpetuate poverty and high fertility in Bangladesh. Four samples, each consisting of 1000 households, from Khetlal, Narial, Minikganj, and Companyganj are studied. The methodology involves generating information through the use of structured questionnaires and observation. Results from the study concern resident population size and density; age and sex patterns of the population; socioeconomic characteristics of the people; marriage patterns; fertility; and knowledge and practice of family planning.
