The frequency of detection of HBs antigen, anti-HBs and anti-HBc in the healthy population of the Moldavian SSR

Results were presented of the comparison of the frequency of the detection of HBsAg and anti-HBs when using various methods of indication, as well as of the study of the prevalence of HBsAg, anti-HBs and core antigens (antiHBc) in healthy Moldavian population. The Moldavian SSR may be considered as a region with a high level of HBV incidence. Differences were revealed between the southern and northern areas of the republic with respect to the frequency of HBsAg and anti-HBs detection. The use of such highly sensitive methods as immunoenzyme assay and radioimmune assay made it possible to increase the percentage of the detection of HBs-antigen-carriers among healthy population.
