Epidemiological data on acute respiratory diseases in hospital conditions

Over the period from 1982 to 1986 15 epidemics of acute respiratory diseases in hospital conditions (children wards) were registered, the clinical picture revealed febrile state, rhinopharingitis, bronchitis and pneumonia. The total number of children (aged 0-6 years) who manifested acute respiratory diseases or were exposed to infection was 316 (26%). Fifty line of them had bronchitis (19%) and 47 pneumonia (15%). A virus was the main aetiological agent in 74% of cases. The mixed infection was established in 26% of cases. Adeno virus without seasonal variations was found in the same period. The immunological condition and the time of hospitalization were the main factors in the development of acute respiratory diseases.
