What do teachers know about diabetes mellitus?

One hundred and eleven questionnaires were distributed between similar number of school-teachers in Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, designed to assess their knowledge of diabetes mellitus and their management in front of recognition and treatment of emergency diabetic problems during stay diabetic children in their school. Only 23 teachers (22%) seemed to have adequate management of hypoglycemic episode and only 18 (17%) admitted to having in their classes a diabetic child. The survey showed a great demand of information about diabetes mellitus and therefore it is desirable to improve relations between diabetic team and scholar environment.
