We have studied the modification of the blood levels of hemoglobin (Hb) during hospital admission in 73 patients with heart disease, and their possible relation with multiple blood extractions as well as with the occurrence of angina during admission. At the time of discharge, Hb level was lower than at admission (p < 0.001), and the fall in Hb level and the amount of blood that had been withdrawn were related (p < 0.001). However, no relationship was found between this amount and the occurrence or absence of angina.
