The technique of the central venous alimentation and the total parenteral nutrition were very valuable in the recent advances of digestive surgery for the past quarter of century. The wound healing in digestive surgery is supported by the supply of calories and various nutriments. The excretion of digestive juices is irritated by oral feeding and reduces in starvation. The digestive juices disturbed wound healing. The total parenteral nutrition reduces the excretion of digestive juice, because the starvation can be realized and it is able to be given the satisfactory supply of nutriments and calories after digestive surgery.
