Morbidity of respiratory diseases among children aged 0-3 years in the city of Dorog

Morbidity examinations were carried out with 1001 0-3 year-old children born and living in the town of Dorog. The occurrence of bronchitis, obstructive bronchitis, bronchopneumonia and laryngitis was analysed. The rate of the frequent illnesses of the children (67.2%) is presented in tables. In the group of ill children 64.7% were those fed with mother's milk and 81.4% those given bottle-feeding. The morbidity rate of children brought up in their home was 58.0% and 87.3% of those living in children's communities. The incidence of disease 1 ill child was on the average 3.14 the highest being in the case of bronchitis (2.02). The morbidity rate was the highest in the group of 25-36 month-old children (41.4%). On the basis of significance examinations close correlation was found between the way of feeding and the diseases examined. Comparative studies were performed concerning the values of survey examinations in Szeged and Salgotarjan and the morbidity rate of respiratory diseases was found to be significantly higher in Dorog. Further examinations are required to highlight the high occurrence rate of respiratory illnesses.
