Sixteen patients with long APTT which was not corrected by normal plasma, thus suggeesting a "lupus-type" anticoagulant, are presented. Apart from the tissue thromboplastin inhibition test (TTI), the technique of diluted Russell's viper venom time (DRVVT), as described by Thiagarajan, was performed in all cases. Such time was prolonged in all the patients when exogenous phospholipids were used, but it was corrected in every case when the phospholipids were substituted by washed platelets.
