Compression of a sensory nerve is an unusual and an often misdiagnosed condition. Symptoms are burning pain at the entrapment point with paraesthesia within the sensory distribution of the compressed nerve. Tenderness along the course of the nerve, Tinel's sign and temporary relief after local nerve blockade leads to the correct diagnosis. Four case-reports are presented in which the saphenous nerve, sural nerve and lateral cutaneous femoral nerve were involved. All had relatively long periods of symptoms. All four patients were free from symptoms a few days after operative decompression.
