A case report of right aortic arch with aberrant left innominate artery

Four year-old girl with vascular ring and patent ductus arteriosus underwent the division of the ductus. The vascular ring exhibited right aortic arch, right descending aorta, aberrant left innominate artery and left side PDA. Embryologically, it is thought to be caused by the interruption of the primitive left aortic arch proximal to the origin of the left common carotid artery. This type of vascular ring was classified as type D and named as "right aortic arch with aberrant left innominate artery" by Garti (1973) according to Edward's functioning double aortic arch model. It has been reported only six cases including ours since Blalock's paper (1948).
