Anatomical and sex differences in fat change relative to weight change were investigated over 5 years in 620 adults. Also studied were the effects of directionality of weight change, entry-level weight and entry-level fatness as they bear on remodelling of outer fat. Findings showed men and women to be similar in the regional differences in fat change relative to weight change, despite marked sex differences in relative fat thickness at the triceps site and at the iliac site where men often have thicker skin folds than women.
