The features of adaptation to acute hypoxia were studied in 73 mountain climbers before and after climbing, as well as in 48 persons subjected to hypoxia in a barochamber. The comparison of the results of the study as a whole showed that 11-15 days after alpine adaptation the altitude resistance in mountain climbers was substantially higher than in climbers who were examined 5-6 months after climbing. Equally high resistance to hypoxia after long- and short-term alpine adaptation is observed in persons with increased, as well as with substantially low, hemoglobin content and erythrocyte count in the blood.
