Nitroglycerin and postural tests applied at rheovasography, are believed to produce results which are highly informative. The postural test, in particular, provides differentiation between obliterating diseases and angiodystonia of the limb periphery, helps to find out angiodystonia type. Lumbar sympathectomy positive outcome is established by increased foot rheographic index (RI) evaluated in response to the postural test rather than to nitroglycerin one which, in contrast, is more informative in poor results of sympathectomy as shown by elevated value of the index. It follows that the postural test can be introduced in most patients as a single procedure, nitroglycerin administration being adjuvant in need of additional information.
