A comparative epidemiological study of the state of the organs of the gastrointestinal tract was conducted in 1172 chronic alcoholism patients (II stage). An increased level of oncofetal antigens was observed in patients from various regions of the USSR. The incidence of the carriage of hepatitis B markers in alcoholics was higher than that in heathly persons. Persons with increased immunological indices with respect to .alpha.-fetoprotein and cancer-embryonic antigen synthesis and HBs-angenemia can be included in the groups of increased risk for malginant neoplasts of the liver, large intestine, lungs and some other organs.
