Systemic amyloidosis involving the gastrointestinal tract is not infrequent. This report presents a case of systemic amyloidosis involving the stomach and rectum. The patient is a 49 year-old female who was admitted several times because of a tarry stool. The gastro-endoscopy revealed a few irregular shallow ulcers of different sizes and nodular folds. Hemorrhagic gastritis was also present. Before operation gastric Lymphoma R/O carcinoma was suspected. After the operation amyloidosis was confirmed by pathology. Neither L.G.I. series nor colonfiberscopy could detect any gross abnormality; nevertheless, a biopsy of the rectum revealed amyloidosis. Other organs such as the liver, kidney and left lateral vatus muscle were also deposited by amyloid.
