The vertical distribution of ovipositing females of Toxorhynchites moctezuma [T. theobaldi] was studied during 1979 in the evergreen seasonal Moruga Forest of south-central Trinidad using bamboo pots and oviposition traps placed at set heights from the forest floor (30-870 cm). Eggs were laid in the traps/pots over the complete range of heights, but 34.7-53% of the positive traps/pots were within 120 cm of the forest floor. No eggs were collected from ovitraps during late May to June. This may have been due to traps overflowing as the result of heavy rainfall.
