Phialophora richardsiae isolated from a cutaneous lesion

A case is reported in a 30-yr-old man who developed a skin lesion over the left lower tibia and ankle, the area where a splint had rested during treatment of a fractured femur. P. richardsiae was identified in KOH preparations from the lesion. Therapy with oral griseofulvin and local naftifine failed to resolve the lesion.
