A population-based survey of the prevalence of human intestinal parasitic infections ( helminths and protozoa) in Nyanza Province, Kenya, was designed and conducted in 2 of the 4 districts in the Province (Kisumu and Kisii Districts). This report consists of the methodology, study design and the overall study organization and its application is proposed for large-scale community and population-based study and surveillance of human intestinal parasitoses in rural populations. Features of interest gained during the planning and conduct of the study are discussed and their contribution assessed. The results of the data from the 2 districts will be reported in detail in subsequent publications.
