The results of an empirical study carried out in 1976 in a Hesse village near Marburg seek to supply information and suggestions for political and emancipatory youth work in rural areas. The contents are: (1) description of the study area and people; (2) general structures in rural areas and conditions giving rise to them (based on a small selection of literature from Bellman, Marx, Poppinga, Bloch, Chotjewitz); (3) an average life history of a youth from the village surveyed; (4) an outline of youth work there; (5) youth work in the village and village public information; (6) acquiring information about available occupations; (7) political education: discussions in youth work; (8) learning processes of the authors.
