The influence of surface charges on the osmotic resistance of red blood cells was studied in rabbits, rats and humans. It was shown that with the growth of the surface electronegativity of red blood cell membranes their osmotic resistance significantly rose due to the changes in their elastic-mechanical properties. It is suggested that premembrane protein-hemoglobin layers inside the red blood cells, depending on the surface charges of the red cell membranes, determine, to a great extent, their elastic-mechanical properties.
