An 11-year-old Dalmatian with chronic cough and exercise intolerance had arterial hypoxaemia, increased pulmonary resistance, and minimal elimination of barium sulphate by mucociliary clearance. A quarter of ciliary profiles were abnormal, the commonest abnormalities being deletions of various combinations of outer and inner dynein arms.
