A 32-year-old woman was admitted because of convulsions and coma, and a blood sodium level of 119 meq/1 and osmolarity of 225 mosm/kg were found. Her condition was caused by psychogenic polydipsia, common in psychiatric patients as a result of personality disorders, neuroses and pscyhoses. They constitute a high risk group for developing polydipsia and water intoxication.
