The number of younger patients increased continuously. Therefore the importance of the vocational rehabilitation is to be improved. 164 patients (103 men, 61 women) with stroke which was below the pensions age (women 60 years, men 65 years) have been examined in average two years after stroke. 35 (22 men, 13 women) having worked vocationally. The average age of the vocational group working persons were 45,3 years and 53,7 years in the not unemployed group. 51,4% of the working group were the side hemiplegics and 34,1% had aphasic disorders. The percentages of these symptoms were very similar in both groups. 14 persons had a fulltime job, 18 a parttime job and three professions in private factories of trade. 20 patients had worked in former jobs and professions. The study suggests many reserves in the vocational rehabilitation. Precise vocational preparatory measures are necessary including contacts with the former or future teams of labour of the patients.
