When rats of different ages were given beta -amino-propionitrile fumarate 1.2 g/kg commercial diet, signs of gross angiolathyrism accompanied by mild bone deformity were seen in Sprague-Dawley and Rolfsmeyer rats weighing 103 g at the start of feeding. Wistar-Furth and Long-Evans rats of the same initial weight developed moderate to severe osteolathyrism with hind limb paralysis and occasional lesions of angiolathyrism.
