Pentastomiasis in captive monkeys

Three cases of pentastomiasis are reported from captive cynomolgus macaques (Macaca fascicularis) and capuchin monkeys (Cebus capucinus). The pentastome in the macaques was identified as Porocephalus sp., while that in the capuchin monkey was identified as Armillifer sp. The life cycles and host ranges of the pentastomes are discussed in the light of these observations. The cysts formed by the pentastomes and the pathology of pentastomiasis are also described.
