Measured results of the heart rate by means of heart action screening for the purpose of evaluating the physical strain/heaviness of work of 36 day-nursery educators from two districts, who care for infants of all age groups, were evaluated to indicate moderate physical work (index number 0.8). Thus, there is no obligation of a medical check-up according to category B 11 of the methodical material for industrial-medical fitness examinations and check-ups. Because of the relatively high share of lifting and carrying work, especially in the care for infants of the medium age group the conditions of ASAO 5 (industrial safety regulations) are not met. Therefore, it is recommended to perform fitness examinations including the assessment of the spine and gynecological examinations before a college education or the work as a day-nursery assistant is started.
