Irregular ossification of the distal femoral epiphysis

Rapid growth in the distal femoral epiphysis frequently causes irregular ossification which may be confused with osteochondritis dissecans in X-rays. The existence of these irregularities seem to have been forgotten and this may result in unneccessary therapeutic interventions. Two characteristic cases are described.
