An experimental study in conscious rats with intact and denervated sinoaortic baroreceptor zones has been concerned with arterial BP changes in response to negative and positive emotions. Negative emotions are shown to suppress both the cardiochronotropic and the vasomotor components of the baroreceptor reflex. The role of the baroreceptor reflex in the provision of BP changes in response to negative and positive emotions is discussed.
