A retrospective analysis of the spectrum of clinical features in patients undergoing peripartum hysterectomy in Trinidad revealed a lower incidence of the procedure among primigravidae and fewer complications, than in the Jamaican experience. Caesarean hysterectomy is recommended as a useful option in the present day obstetric armoury.
