The cytochemical distribution of acetylcholinesterase activity was studied in the adrenal chromaffin cells of three species of Amphibia Urodela. Reaction end-products were associated with both adrenaline and noradrenaline cells and nervous elements present in the gland. In the chromaffin cells the enzymatic activity was localized in: endoplasmic reticulum, the nuclear envelope, the cellular membrane and membrane of the chromaffin vesicles. On the whole the noradrenaline cells appeared more reactive than the adrenaline cells. Nevertheless we observed some variation concerning the entity of the reaction between the examined species.
